The BIG Fund

The BIG Fund is BIG's non-Lottery funding operation

The National Lottery Act (2006) gave Big Lottery Fund (BIG) the powers to distribute Third Party Funding (non-Lottery), as well as Lottery funding.

BIG's Third Party mission is to work collaboratively, putting our experience, systems and learning at the disposal of others for the benefit of communities and people most in need.

The BIG Fund is the brand we use to distribute funding that does not come from the National Lottery. It is not a funding programme but can be used to deliver funding on behalf of other organisations, such as government departments. If you are interested in applying for funding from a BIG Fund programme please use the funding finder or call our advice line on 0845 410 20 30.

BIG's experience, infrastructure and expertise mean we are perfectly positioned to deliver wider community funding programmes. We deliver funding throughout the UK, through programmes tailored specifically to the needs of communities in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland as well as programmes that cover the whole UK.

Since June 2004 BIG has awarded close to £6 billion to projects supporting health, education, environment and charitable purposes. BIG is well connected with the voluntary and community sector; in 2011/12 92% of our funding was awarded to voluntary and community sector.

Further Information

As well as the ability to distribute Third Party Funding BIG can also explore shared service opportunities or collaboration on joint funding schemes.
