BIG publishes equality reports for Northern Ireland in line with our legal duties under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, and to communicate important developments in our equality work.
BIG's Equality Update 2012
For the first time, BIG has published an Equality Update 2012 (PDF, 197 kb) to communicate BIG’s progress in meeting the equality duties and how funding has met the needs of equality strands in Northern Ireland. The document also includes a review of screening and equality analysis activity in the past year. We would like to hear your views on the on the content of this document. Comments may be made in writing, telephone, textphone or in face-to-face meetings. All comments should be received by 27 November 2012.
Northern Ireland Equality Scheme 2007-2012
The Northern Ireland Equality Scheme 2007-2012 (PDF, 758 kb)sets out how we will comply with our legal duties under Section 75 of the NI Act 1998. The final scheme was published in May 2008 and disseminated to staff and stakeholders.
Northern Ireland Disability Action Plan 2007-2012
This plan sets out how we will comply with the Disability Discrimination (NI) Order 2006. The NI plan is complementary to our UK wide Joint Equality Scheme (Race, Disability & Gender). The NI plan is reviewed and updated annually, findings are available below.

Annual Report to the Equality Commission
As a designated public body under Section 75 of the NI Act 1998, BIG annual reports to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland on our equality compliance over the past financial year. BIG’s Annual Report to the Equality Commission for the financial year 1 April 2011- 31 March 2012 received sign-off by our Chief Executive and forwarded to the Equality Commission at the end of August 2012. This report is now publicly available online for comment.
