Area:
Scotland
Release date:
18 4 2013

Today (April 18), 96 organisations working with children and families across Scotland have been awarded funding from the Scottish Government’s £20 million Third Sector Early Intervention Fund (TSEIF). Managed by Big Fund (the non-Lottery arm of the Big Lottery Fund), the TSEIF is supporting this organisations to focus on improving the future for all Scotland’s children.

Making today’s grant announcements Minister for Children & Young People Aileen Campbell said: “The third sector has an important role in reaching out directly to families and children to offer support and expertise. Our investment in these 96 organisations will make a positive difference to so many people and will change lives for the better.”

Jackie Killeen Big Lottery Fund Scotland Director added: “We are delighted to work with the Scottish Government to deliver the Third Sector Early Intervention Fund. This significant investment recognises the importance of early intervention and preventative work, particularly in supporting our children and young people to have the best possible start in life.”

Grants made today through TSEIF will support organisations which can improve policy and practice nationally, will fund organisations delivering services and will encourage creative and innovative approaches for preventative work from organisations working directly with children and young people, and the families and communities that support them – a full list of all organisations receiving funding today can be found here

The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) already funds a variety of projects focusing on early intervention and preventative work with children and young people through its various funding streams. There were a number of proposals that presented a strong potential fit to contributing to BIG’s outcomes in this area. Where a strong match exists to BIG outcomes, BIG will work with unsuccessful TSEIF applicants to offer additional support in applying for funding from its existing schemes as it seeks to maximise support to the Sector.
