Specialist help for local groups looking to land Lottery cash

Dedicated workshops from the BIG Lottery Fund are to take place at five locations across Scotland to mark the re-launch of Awards For All.

Awards for All Scotland aims to help people become actively involved in projects that bring about change in their local communities and is run by the Big Lottery Fund, sportscotland and the Scottish Arts Council, three of the organisations that distribute money raised by the National Lottery for good causes.

The two-hour sessions will be run by Awards for All staff and are available by booking only. They will explain the recent changes to the programme that was re-launched on April 1st.  The dates and locations where the sessions are to be held are:

  • 21st April 2009: AK Bell Library, York Place, Perth, PH2 8EP, 10am – 12pm
  • 21st April 2009: Municipal Buildings, Castle Street, Forfar, DD8 3AF, 2pm - 4pm
  • 29th April 2009: Waterfront Complex, 8 Custom Way, Greenock, PA15 1EW, 11am-1pm
  • 7th May 2009:  East Ayrshire Council, London Rd, Kilmarnock, KA3 7BU, 12pm – 2pm
  • 12th May 2009: Summerhill Centre, Stronsay Drive, Aberdeen, AB15 6JA , 1pm – 3pm

From April 1st this year this popular Lottery small grants scheme will continue to make awards of between £500 and £10,000 to grass-roots groups in the community and the voluntary sector, health bodies, schools and statutory bodies but with a few changes to the programme making it easier for applicants to apply and get money.

A new application form is available which can, for the first time, be downloaded electronically and emailed directly to Awards for All Scotland. Groups should be aware that Awards for All will no longer accept the old application forms which were available up until March 31st 2009.

An Awards for All spokesperson, said: “Awards for All Scotland has always been popular with local groups as a quick and easy way to access Lottery money. Now, with our new look programme, we are making the process even simpler including a faster turnaround time on getting a decision.”

Awards for All Scotland will continue to be a rolling programme and does not have a closing date. The new application form can be downloaded from www.awardsforall.org.uk/scotland. A hard copy is available by calling 0845 600 2040.

Notes to Editors

  • Awards for All is a joint awards programme set up to help small groups whose income is less than £20,000 per annum. It involves three Lottery distributors: the Big Lottery Fund, the Scottish Arts Council and sportscotland.
  • Awards for All makes grants to help people take part in arts, sport, social, environmental, health related, educational and other community activities.
