A diet rich in fruit and vegetables can protect against many cancers, stroke and coronary heart disease. However, many people, especially those on low incomes, face a series of barriers that make it difficult for them to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables that they eat. The aim is to remove some of these barriers and to promote the consumption of fruit and vegetables. Awards have been made to 66 PCTS who are leading multi agency partnerships to implement community-wide food projects.
