This programme contained two strands: two direct grants have been made for equipment and five umbrella grants made to Health and Social Services Boards, which have supported a total of 23 projects. A number of projects in Northern Ireland promote partnership working across statutory and voluntary sectors. Examples include: the purchase of state-of-the art breast screening equipment, MRI machines and machinery to help diagnose skin and lung cancer. a project to fund a pioneering multi-disciplinary healing programme for woman with cancer a project which targets disadvantaged areas, to develop a local cancer awareness projects offering a pilot outreach health support facility.
