The Scottish Land Fund will support rural communities to become more resilient and sustainable through the ownership and management of land and land assets. It will provide practical support and funding to enable local people to work together to develop their ideas and aspirations and plan and complete viable land and land assets acquisition projects. It is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered in partnership by the Big Lottery Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. What are we looking for? We want to fund projects that: Enable rural communities to achieve increased sustainable economic, social and environmental development through the experience of acquiring, owning and managing land and land assets. and which contribute to one or more of the following: Rural communities are more empowered and have a greater capacity to lead and control their own development so that they can generate sustainable income. People in rural communities have increased opportunities to participate effectively in community-led development, including volunteering. Rural communities are more resilient through the development and provision of community-led essential local services. Who can apply? We will only make grants to projects in rural communities in Scotland (settlements with a population of less than 10,000). When we talk about community, we mean a geographic community, not a community of interest. To receive a grant your organisation must be community-led and community controlled. What can you apply for? You can apply for grants between £10,000 and £750,000 to fund the purchase of land or land assets. You can also request some revenue funding to help with the initial running costs of your project after acquisition.
