In 1999, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) decided to investigate concerns about the burden imposed on applicants to Lottery distributors.
The following year the Quality, Efficiency and Standards Team at DCMS published A review of Lottery application processes
To support this study, the National Lottery Charities Board (NLCB, soon to be renamed the Community Fund) commissioned NOP Consumer to investigate the views of a range of types of applicant to its programmes about their experiences of the application process, and especially the application form and guidance.
The NLCB study included successful and unsuccessful applicants representing a range of sizes, experience and interests from across the UK.
While circumstances change over time, the views of applicants about our assessment form and processes make interesting reading and are still relevant today.
The presentation from the study includes a wealth of perceptions about the process and individual questions. It is of particular interest to anyone involved in designing forms and processes – or in helping people to complete them.
