With a population of over 6.9 million the North West is larger than several EU countries and is the third most populated English region behind the South East and London and has a diverse mix of people representing many ethnic groups.
The North West has five distinctive sub-regions, Cheshire, Merseyside, Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

The North West team is based in Manchester.
What we do
The regional team is the public face of BIG in the North West. Our work includes :
- gathering local intelligence to identify communities most in need. This enables us to ensure they access relevant funding and give decision-making committees the regional information they need to make informed decisions
- engaging with stakeholders across the region enabling us to have a strong and appropriate impact on regional issues
- supporting funding advisers with current information on our funding, to encourage strong applications and high success rates
- supporting grant holders to publicise their projects and generate support
- raising awareness of our funding by promoting special events in the region
- informing MPs and other key stakeholders of our funding successes and issues in their constituencies and areas.
