We have always been keen to ensure that we get the most out of our investment in projects. An important part of this is considering what will happen to projects after our funding ends, often known as ‘exit strategies’.
The then Community Fund always asked applicants about their plans as part of the application process, but it was and remains clear that many grant-holders remain focused on project delivery until funding is close to ending.
This summary reports on findings from a study undertaken in 2002 to consider grant-holders’ original plans, their ideas at the end of funding and what happened afterwards.
It also identifies some factors that help to promote or undermine project sustainability.
